,
We went back to the school for day two of VBS and there
was a news crew there. Unfortunately it was for a different program and the
principal who was out sick double booked the area that we were using for vbs.
there was a celebrity coming to give sandals to the school and they were going
to broadcast it.
We played with our students and spent time getting to
know them better. The team was so flexible and understanding. We immediately
circled up and decided what to do next.
With positive attitudes, we went back to the guesthouse
and decided to go purchase toiletries, baby formula, diapers, shampoo and other
supplies at the store. We went to go visit with a woman named Josie Long who
moved to the Philippines with her family when she was just four. She started a home for girls who have been abused at home
or from sex trafficking. The Long family is a living example and testimony to
following Gods call and obeying His word. We all prayed over Josie and did our best to uplift and
encourage her, as her responsibilities are not light. She cried as we prayed
and shared a little bit of the burden of this life with her. We met some college girls who were there for the summer
to help counsel the girls and help them heal. We got to share with them and the
rest of the house about Saddleback Manila.
From there we went to an orphanage to love on children that are in desperate need
of love, attention and care. We played for hours and got a special show from a
little girl named Kimberly. She sang for us "we are the light of the
world" and it was incredibly beautiful. It was a beautiful moment and was
a memory that will last in our hearts forever.
After a long day of ministry, spreading love, hope and care as ministers of saddleback Manila, we went home and prepared for our next day of VBS tomorrow. Hopefully there aren't any political tv shows :)..
