SK Manila, 2 July (a bit late :-)

Operation Gratitude

On Thursday we carved out some time to work on cards, gifts, and notes to show our gratitude toward the many people who have helped us here in Manila.  We created gift bags for the teachers at Learning Links for allowing us to come and share the message of being confident in God.  We created cards and decorated SK reusable water bottles for our van drivers who have been driving us all around. As you can imagine, moving 31 people around as one unit is no easy task.  We wrote notes to express our gratitude to the staff at the hotel where we are staying because they have been incredibly kind and accommodating.  Operation Gratitude wouldn’t have been complete without creating letters and cards for Jorin.  In a sense we came to support him, but he has truly blessed us beyond measure.

Our “Sandwich Team” was at it again. This time they made over 400 sandwiches for the children of the community of Ichion, was our afternoon street ministry.  This community was even less fortunate than the community of Don Jose, but once again the team chose to see these children through the loving eyes of Jesus, and shared His love by playing soccer, basketball, tag, blowing bubbles, and applying temporary tattoos.  Once again Coco and Julia wowed the children with Origami.  The principal of the school brought the children together in lines according to their grade levels, and we then distributed sandwiches and cookies.  It was our prayer that this simple act of feeding the hungry will have eternal effects!

It’s hard to believe we only have two days left here serving the kind, humble, and loving children and families here in south Manila.  We miss our families at home, but it will be tough leaving here.  We thank God every day for each and every member of our team and for the work we are here to do!
