SK Costa Rica: DAY ONE

Pura Vida from Costa Rica!

We finished our first full day of ministry in Costa Rica!  What a blessing the day was filled with memories and moments.  Both KSG students and parents were touched today by the amazing staff and volunteers at Vida Abundante Church.

Today we started our day with serving along side church volunteers at Sonrisas con Esperanza (Smiles of Hope). This is a ministry is in the heart of what the Costa Rican define as the Wild West of San Jose.  Where the poor of the poorest live and are often abused with so many evils of man that it just brakes your heart.  Our team presented songs, games, our skit of the parable of the farmer sowing seeds, and more games.  Two of our KSG students Carly & Seth shared their testimonies.  They did a fantastic job and the kids in the audience were very attentive to every word.  What a blessing for our students to share their faith story and encourage the children and parents in this poor community.

Afterwards we enjoyed some typical Costa Rican lunch (rice, chicken, and beans) and then went to the church to clean the children’s ministry rooms.  We worked hard scrubbing very dirty chairs and tables, cleaned windows and swept floors.  It was a nice time of team bonding and a huge learning opportunity for our KSG students; that we do all things as if serving the Lord Jesus!

We finished our day enjoying a typical Costa Rican dinner (rice, chicken, and bean)brought in to the hotel during our devotion for the day and daily debrief to share memories and moments.

All is good and well with KSG Costa Rica!
