SK Costa Rica: Saturday 6/23 UPDATE

Hola Again Saturday 6/23/18 update

Today was another full day.  We started the morning early at a Vida Abundante day camp with youth 8-12 years of age. This is an annual event that the church does for their kids. About 100 kids participated and our KSG students participated in games and activities as well. Two of our kids were ask to share their testimonies; Cion & Samantha.  They were great! Oh yeah, Michael and me were forced to dance to rap music so all the kids would have a good laugh for the day.

We left by 1:00 to participate in the church’s homeless feeding ministry. This was a great experience for our team and our team led a homeless lady to Jesus. She was prayed over by Lea and the Pastor Hector. Great conversations with church volunteers and homeless people.  Countless stories to share here.

Afterwards we grabbed a quick lunch because we went to a bible study fellowship with teens that included 4 boys ages 15-20 and 5 Girls ages 16-20.  The adults stepped up in this situation and shared a message about growing in faith.   We played a game for an icebreaker then message.  Then we divided the boys from the girls.  The ladies met with the girls for heartfelt discussion and prayer time.  The guys met with the boys for deep discussion, challenges in their lives, and prayers. This was a huge M&M for the team. There was lots of encouragement and deep discussions with both girls and boys  We ended with a snack for the kids.

We had a nice long debrief of the day over dinner. Tomorrow is an early day church 8:00am then we will serve at the 10:00 am service. Rest of the day will be another outreach activity

Good night!  We are exhausted so prayers for strength much appreciated.

Father's Day feeding of the homeless with Vida Abundate.  The team delivered food and gifts of soap, toothbrush/paste, deodorant, etc. to the homeless fathers.

This last picture comes with a powerful story.  This is Jocelyn who has been homeless for 4 months.  Her story is difficult filled with more than 25 years of alcohol and growing up with an abusive father.  She received Christ today! What a powerful moment for the team to share with her!
She literally melted into Lea's arms as the team was praying for her! Praise the King!

And finally this was in the afternoon youth group at Sonrisas con Esperanza where the SK adults stepped up big time to encourage these young men and ladies in their walk and discipleship with Christ!
